Let’s get into it. Here’s exactly how we coach brands to move from “vibes” to “value” to “very real revenue.”
✅ STEP 1: Score Every Social Touchpoint (the C.A.R.E. way)
Stop treating every like or comment like a win. Not all engagement is created equal.
Using our CARE Method™, we sort every single social interaction into just two buckets that actually drive revenue:
- Acquisition → Pre-purchase signals: asking questions, comparing, lurking in the comments
- Retention → Post-purchase loyalty: checking in, cheering you on, tagging friends or asking for more
Everything else? It’s just banter. Fun? Sure. Profitable? Not unless you move it.
📊 Tag or label your convos accordingly. We use tools like Sprout Social to track this at scale, but you can start by auditing 10 recent comments and tagging them manually.
👉 Ask: “Did this interaction come before or after a purchase?” “Could it lead to a sale, or deepen loyalty?” If not, it’s engagement (still good!), not conversion.
✅ STEP 2: Build Buying Breadcrumbs
This is where most brands drop the ball. They wait for followers to figure out what to do next. DON’T PUT THE WORK BACK ON YOUR CUSTOMERS!
Instead, you need:
- Pinned posts with clear offers
- Profile bios that link to conversion paths (NOT just your homepage)
- “Link in bio” tools that actually connect content to action
Example: Got a post that’s blowing up? Update your pinned comment with: “Want help with this? I created a free training on it → [link]”
Guide them like they’re on a wine tour! They want to sip, not search.
✅ STEP 3: Train Your Team to Reply Like Sellers
Your social care team can absolutely help generate sales, but not if they’re replying like bots or bouncing real leads to the abyss.
Train for tone + conversion cues:
- When someone says “this is exactly what I needed,” reply with: “Love hearing that. Want to see how we’ve helped brands like yours apply this? Happy to send something.”
- When someone drops a pain point, ask: “Can I send a quick resource that might help?”
Then log it. Tag/label it. Follow up. This is your conversation capital.
✅ STEP 4: Set the Follow-Up Traps
Comments are only the start of the journey. Here’s what should happen after someone engages (*IF* there’s buying intent):
- They get a follow-up DM (with context + CTA)
- They’re added to a nurture list or CRM sequence
- You track what moved them from comment → convo → customer
SOCIAL CX TRUTH BOMB: 🚨 Interest ≠ intent.
Just because someone double-taps or says “this!” doesn’t mean they’re ready to buy. You need intent signals before you move someone into nurture.
Intent sounds like:
- “Do you have a link for this?”
- “Where can I learn more?”
- “I need this — how much?”
This is when the follow-up kicks in. It’s also when we tag, score, and route.
Engagement is insight. Intent is action. And revenue only happens when you connect the two.
And yes! This is totally doable! You just need a system that separates signal from noise. [Start with our blog post on intent signals.]
