Katie is a rockstar in the field, and Trust Insights has grown year over year since its launch in 2017. That’s just one of the reasons why we’d like you to get to know Katie Robbert in her own words.

Who Is Katie Robbert?

Katie: I’m the co-founder and CEO of Trust Insights. My primary function is to keep all of the trains on the tracks and moving forward. I’m also responsible for setting the financial goals, the company strategy, client relationships, and operations.

When did you know you wanted to pursue this career?

Katie: I never wanted to pursue Marketing or AI specifically. I like working with people, collecting data, and understanding behaviors. Marketing was a natural fit after I stopped studying psychology in college. I also like being in charge. I’ve been that way since I was old enough to assert myself.

What’s the biggest accomplishment you’ve had in your field?

Katie: Probably having enough confidence in my skills to start my own business. It was never in my head as something I wanted to do but I did want to run a company. I kept hitting roadblocks when I tried to move up so finally it dawned on me that I could build a business, doing the work that I wanted to do, and be in charge.

What’s the toughest lesson you’ve had to learn along the way?

Katie: I don’t know if it’s the toughest, but one of the lessons that stick with me on a daily basis is to stop waiting for other people to recognize and praise your work. Just keep moving forward with what you’re doing.

When I was just starting out in my career I needed that reassurance that I was doing the right things. One day my boss pulled me aside and said, “stop waiting for that pat on the back, it’s not coming. That doesn’t mean you’re good. It just means you need to be your own cheerleader”.

Social Media For Business

How has Social Media, Customer Care, or Paid Advertising helped your business? 

Katie: Social Media isn’t something that I really focused on for myself before Trust Insights. Now I find myself trying to connect and interact with more marketers on Twitter. Not specifically for sales reasons, but to bring awareness to what I’m working on and learn what other people are doing. When you’re a small business, having a strong community to lean on and learn from is important for your sanity and your professional development.

What is something big you learned from Social Media, Customer Care, or Paid Advertising that you use regularly? 

Katie: I’ve learned that a hard sell on social media gets you just about nowhere. You need to be a real person and have more meaningful conversations with people. If you’ve built up a rapport it’s easier to talk with other people on social media about what you’re doing. But just trying to be aggressive and talk only about yourself won’t work. Then you’re just wasting time and talking to the void.

Parting Advice

Any tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way?

Katie: Believe in what you’re doing, believe in yourself. You’ll run into plenty of people who won’t and you need to trust yourself first. That will take you far.

What does ‘think conversation’ mean to you?

Katie: To me, “think conversation” means connecting with people in a real, meaningful way. To my earlier point, starting with a hard sell instead of building a relationship won’t get you very far.

Do you have any predictions for this year?

Katie: 2021 predictions? Naw. Things are changing too quickly. I’m just taking it day by day 🙂
