Community Manager (CMGR)

B Squared Media, LLC is looking for a Community Manager (CMGR). This position is 1099 contractor status, and will assist in executing day-to-day social media and other digital projects for B Squared Media and its projects. The position primarily reports to the Account and Project Manager.

As the CMGR, you will be responsible for growing and managing the online social presence of B Squared Media and its projects. The perfect CMGR will virtually glide through platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. The main goal is to develop communities by using a “Think Conversation” style and to drive positive imagery of B Squared Media and its projects to onlookers.

Key Responsibilities

Community Management 75%

  • Participates in minute-by-minute online conversation by answering questions, offering solutions and mediating conversations
    • Respond within 30 minutes during “peak hours” and within 8 hours during “non-peak hours”
  • Manage SMM dashboard for daily influx of tags, mentions, and conversation; moderate, tag and share, as appropriate
  • Grow online communities by nurturing them and establishing relationships; work with Project/Account Manager to create a daily/weekly/monthly plan for obtaining new followers & fans
  • Develop and expand community and/or blogger outreach efforts
  • Proactively research customers/communities for B Squared Media and projects
    • What are they are talking about on social media?
    • How/when do they mention the project; what words they are using?
    • What platforms are they most active on?
  • Report project details to Project/Account Manager around responses, escalation, comments, compliments, and complaints regarding brands engagement (“Rules of Engagement”) and help document FAQs (frequently asked questions)
  • Utilize social listening tools like Sprout Social to generate insights
    • Monitor brand keywords closely and report on insights
  • Summarize insights and conversations to create actionable insights for Project and/or Account Manager
  • Special projects as needed

Location & Review Dashboard Management 25%

  • Work with Project/Account Manager to create and manage processes and workflows for coordinating all content in partner dashboard, which includes updating location information and managing incoming reviews
  • Check system daily for updates
  • Pull monthly reports for your Project/Account Manager
  • Special projects as needed

Other Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and complete project tasks on time in Basecamp (project management system)
  • Track time by project task for invoicing
  • Attend meetings with team or project leads for updates, reporting, and check-ins


  • Familiarity with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram, and aggregators such as Khoros and Sprout Social
  • Acts as frontline brand manager by interacting in real time on various platforms
  • Organized and efficient with a quick turnaround; meets or exceeds deadlines
  • Effectively communicates in both verbal and written form
  • A knack for research
  • Natural affinity for copywriting and brand voice
  • Detail oriented with excellent grammar and spelling
  • Strong awareness of brand positioning and messaging
  • Must be a flexible and a strong team player
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work during non-standard business hours, including weekends, after-hours, and holidays. Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights (until 12 EST), and weekends (day and night).


  • 1-3 years of experience managing social media platforms or communities for brands
  • Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, media studies, business and/or related fields
  • Deep understanding of mainstream social media platforms
  • Knowledge of Sprout Social a plus
  • Remote/telecommute work experience a plus
